As a trained music teacher as well as a TL, the above statement gets no arguments from me! In this article by Tom Barnes from the Children's Music Workshop, he outlines why and how music makes us better readers, listeners and communicators. Image: Notes on my heart by Amanda Tipton. AuthorI am the Primary Teacher Librarian at the International School of Lausanne in Switzerland. I followed my love of books and became a Teacher Librarian over 12 years ago. I am passionate about reading, literacy and technology and see all three as essential skills for students to navigate both the present and the future. My favourite kinds of books are picture books - I just can't read enough of them! I am also a trained music teacher who plays flute and piano and believes music is the fourth essential skill in helping prepare today's young people for the future. Archives
